Get Ready for the Knysna Oyster Festival
Are you ready for the best 10 days of your winter holiday? This year’s festival will take place from 6 – 15 July.
FEATURED EVENTS
SALOMON Featherbed Trail Run presented by GU
CHANGE TO THE DARK SIDE - DO IT AT NIGHT!
Have a night to remember!!
Going, going, gone!!! With almost all the entries to the 2 day-time departures of the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run presented by GU already snapped up, chances are slim that you will get your hands on one of these, unless you enter right now.
If you have left your entry till the last minute, it may already be too late. However, the secret is out; arguably the best entries to the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival‘s official trail run are still obtainable. Yes, there are still entries available to the Night Run and for those who have done all three, the Night Run rates the top.
Taste your own vitality in every breath. It is likely that it will be cold; it may even be wet and downright miserable. One thing is for sure, you will finish feeling more alive than you have for a while.
Night runners in the last three Featherbed Trail Runs have been showered by driving winter rain and storm winds and they said they wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly, I worry that many might feel cheated if the event isn’t blessed with some character building weather.
Regardless of the elements, if the hot meal in the cosy ambiance of Knysna’s acclaimed Cruise Café restaurant isn’t enough to lure you to the finish line, then the hot trail runners gathering for a party there should. Share your experience with kindred spirits.
So, don’t miss the boat!! If you want to be a part of the Trail Running event of the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, book your seat on the ferry right now before it’s too late!!
The Salomon Featherbed Trail Run is set off in 3 departures;
· THE MORNING RUN at 07.30am followed by breakfast
· THE AFTERNOON RUN at 12.30pm followed by lunch
· THE PETZL NIGHT RUN at 17.15pm followed by dinner.
And there are 2 courses set for each departure;
· The Seahorse Trail Run : 11.0 km
· Coelacanth Trail Run: 15 km.
And all this is included in your entry!
What’s more; an entry into the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run also enters you automatically into the fantastic lucky draw of a "Top to Toe Voucher including a full Salomon Trail Running Kit + Petzl Headlamp + GU Hamper.
If you miss out on that Lucky draw, fear not, your luck has far from run out - for the Legacy Hotel Group is offering a lucky couple from each event the opportunity to win a weekend away to one of the following stunning 5 Star Lodges:
Kruger Park Lodge http://www.krugerparklodge.co.za/
Kuzuko Lodge http://www.kuzukolodge.co.za/
Kwa Maritane http://www.kwamaritanelodge.co.za/
And if your name has still not been called, you still haven’t lucked out yet, because the Featherbed Nature Reserve is offering a lucky draw to an exclusive party for 50 of your friends on board of the Knysna Paddle Cruiser to the value of R 26 000 - and all you need to do is to prove that you are a party animal!
Enter online now! (open til friday 6 July 12midday) www.magneticsouth.net - thereafter late entries through Earth Scout Outdoor retailer at the Knysna Waterfront.
The HANSA Waterfront Rush
Show Your Metal
Feel the Rush in your blood
The HANSA Waterfront Rush is back at the Knysna Quays and takes place over the last 3 days of the Festival.
We want to see if you have got what it takes to make the cut.
Friday and Saturday are the qualifying rounds and if you enter online (which you can do until wednesday, July 11, midday) you are guaranteed two chances to post a time on the 300 meter hydro obstacle course.
The participants who post the best 8 times go through to the final round on the Sunday and, in front of a fanatical festival crowd, fight it out for the lion’s share of the R20 000 prize money. These eight also get geared with a prestigious Rush Finalist Race Top and a pair of Vibram fivefinger footwear which is positively the only footwear versatile enough to confront all the challenges of this multidisplined race including kayaking, water running, roped traverse, hydrobronking, a roped traverse and the sky wall.
With more prize money per meter of course than just about any event in Southern Africa, the Rush pulls a crowd and is a spectator extravaganza not to be missed.
The credit belongs to those who actually step into the ring though and we are wondering if the undisputed “King of the Quays” Oliver Feuillette can be beaten. For 4 years King Feuillette (of France) has reigned supreme at this event. Could you be the one, or do you know anyone, who could challenge his rule?
We do encourage female athletes to enter the event. With the GBAT-system (Gender Based Adjustment of Time) Ladies get a fair chance of competing directly with the men and ranking in the top 8.
We are urging anyone who is multi sports talented, explosive and over 15 years of age to enter the Hansa Waterfront Rush at www.magneticsouth.net. If so book a timeslot in the qualifying rounds right now. If not, then come and enjoy a HANSA at one of seven restaurants at the Knysna Quays during the event and take in the action.
Hot tip: secure a front row seat to the Final by getting there early on the last Sunday of the Pick n Pay Oyster Festival and, the best seats in the house are the ones in front of the dancing girls!
