BMX TALK WITH DARRYN STOW AT THANDI-PAUL CLUVER BMX TRACK

BMX coach and rider Darryn Stow will present a talk and session at Thandi-Paul Cluver BMX Track near Grabouw (Western Cape) on Saturday, 23 June 2012 from 09h00 – 12h00 (weather permitting).
According to Dr Chad Gordon, Grabouw and Hermanus Sports Chiropractor and keen mountain biker, attendees will be presented with the rare opportunity to learn from a professional. “Darryn will talk about skills and the general know-how of Bicycle Moto Cross. Our BMX Track is based at Thandi on Paul Cluver and is funded by the Pedal Power Association and supported by the Contego Wines2Whales MTB Adventure and Race. Our aim is to grow and provide a comprehensive venue and track to promote cycling and the sport of BMX for all children in and around our community, recognizing the benefits of participation for all children and to provide the best competitive environment where members can reach their potential by providing the best possible developmental pathways right here. Riders can potentially have the opportunity to compete at both national and international levels through our affiliation to other bodies,” says Gordon.

Cost: R50 per rider / all development riders will be sponsored
BMX (Bicycle Moto Cross) was derived from Motocross Racing. BMX bicycle races are sprint races on purpose-built single-lap race tracks. The track is usually between 300 – 400m and consists of a ramp-style starting gate for up to eight racers, and is made of various jumps and rollers and a finish line. BMX racing rewards strength, quickness, fitness and bike handling. It is in a contained and safe environment.
