On Sunday, 22 July 2012 thousands of women will gather at the Kings Park Athletic Stadium (Durban) to take part in the much loved Totalsports Ladies Race in celebration of the upcoming Women’s Month. This year the Race will once again support the Jes Foord Foundation, an inspiring organisation that offers free counselling and support for rape victims.
According to Justin De Beer, General Manager of the Jes Foord Foundation, the organisation’s aim is to turn rape victims into rape survivors. “The 2011 Totalsports Ladies Race was an amazing event that was very well supported and well organised. It was such an honour to be involved in an event that highlights the strength, passion and commitment of women. The funds generated from the 2011 event have been used by the foundation to keep our day to day activities running, including our counselling and training programmes. We are again honoured to be involved in this year’s race and we look forward to using the event to highlight the work we do,” says De Beer.
