On Saturday the 6th of April 2019 200 intrepid athletes attempted to see how many times they could summit Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge for Charity. Each lap was 5.5km in distance with 760 metres of climbing, and took approximately 2 hours on average.
The route up included 800 double size steps over a distance of 2.1km. Once at the top, the contestants needed to run to the upper cable station, catch the lift down the cable car and then run back to the start.
On the day AJ Calitz was King of the mountain with Oreoli Bolus doing the most laps in fastest time.
Chantel Nienaber was queen of the mountain and did most laps in fastest time, this is her 4th year in doing so.
This year the charities that are supported are: Cool Play, Paedspal and Centre for Play and Learning.
10% of the amount sponsored will be given to Wilderness Search and Rescue who provide volunteer rescue services.
