Route Description 115km
The race will begin with the title sponsor, Tip Trans' truck leading the riders through Citrusdal's main road. This is a neutral zone behind the truck and the race starts as soon as the truck pulls to the side of the road, just outside of town.
This beautiful dirt road runs from Citrusdal to the first water point and then turns off to Algeria, there the first and biggest climb of the race starts. On top awaits the prize for the King and Queen of the Mountian and for the rest of the riders a breather at the Renault Truck's water point, from there the legs will get some rest on a nice downlhill. At Algeria you will turn left and head towards Clanwilliam. The 65km mark will be Clanwilliam dam where you can take a breather at the water point and enjoy the views. Traveling from here will be along the dam edge to the Tip Trans water point at the low water bridge. Then there is only 27km's left to the finish line BUT before you finish we end this race off with a bit of technical riding through the veld, so leave some reserves for the last bit before you finish back at By Di Dam. This race is only for the fit riders.
Route description 40km
We laid out the 40km route for the less fit or more adventurous weekend warriors. The route heads out of town the same way as the 115km race does and then diverts after 10km's from the main dirt road into the orange groves and at some stages next to the Oliphant's river. A few sharp turns and short stiff climbs in the jeep track makes this a challenge for a technical rider as well. At the halfway mark the 1st and only water point (with some great snacks) will give you more energy to finish the last most beautiful stretch heading back to town. You will be heading out on the main dirt road again into more orange groves, dam walls and get to see the most spectacular daisy flowers the Cederberg has to offer.
