Mountain Bike Classic moves to NEW Stellenbosch winelands venue this September.
The Spur Mountain Bike Classic
is one of the longest running mountain bike events in the country and has always been a great family outdoor event.
After careful consideration and discussions between the event organisers, Dirtopia, and the title sponsor, Spur Steak Ranches, a decision has been made to move the event to Nooitgedacht Estate near Stellenbosch this 27 September 2015.
The decision follows the August 2nd mugging incident on Die Burger MTB Challenge 50km route. The two events utilised similar routes in 2014 and there have since been subsequent attacks and no progress made in apprehending the suspect/s. In order to provide riders and supporters with the safest and most enjoyable family experience, a new venue and routes have been sourced. Nooitgedacht provides access to the wonderful trails around the Simonsberg wine ward.
With three routes on offer: 13km, 30km & 45km, plus kiddies rides of 500m, 1km & 3km, there is something for all ages & abilities!
Riders can always look forward to beautiful riding and views in this Stellenbosch valley, with entry fees contributing to the Simonsberg Conservancy. Routes will cross many famous wine estates in the area and the finish has a beautiful setting amongst trees and a picnic area.
