MAGERSFONTEIN 25 KM & 10KM ROAD RACE
The 17th Magersfontein 25km road race will take place on Saturday
5 December 2015 at 06:00 starting at the main gate at Magersfontein.
Entry fee for the 25 km race is R100-00 and R60-00 for the 10km which includes the entrance to the Magersfontein Battle site. T-Shirts for the first 100 entries for the 25 km race.
Medals for all finishers, sponsored by PG GLASS Kimberley, as well as trophies for the various category winners. Water points every 3km. Runners and Walkers welcome.
It is an out-&-back route running through Modderriver stopping at the popular waterhole at the Crown & Royal Hotel. The route is on gravel road along the Magersfontein Battlefield which is 31.5 kilometres south of Kimberley, and has become a bustling, growing town. It was the site of a battle that took place on 11 December 1899, during the Second South African War. It was between the Boers and the British, but the Boers’ victory was almost uncontested. The race is started with the Kimberley Regiment Bag Pipes
Entries will take place on Friday 4 December from 17:00-19:00 at Hoffe Park Club, 30 Reservoir Rd and on race day from 04:45 – 05:45am at Magersfontein main gate.
DIRECTIONS FROM KIMBERLEY TO MAGERSFONTEIN:
Take the N12 to Modder River (the Cape Town Road). From the robot at the Caltex Garage on the N12 Kimberley, drive 32 km. You will see silos on your left side – slow down to turn off onto the Jacobsdal Road to the left (Ritchie to the right). Keep on this road until just over the train bridge, turn left again at the foot of the bridge, drive past GWK/Landmark. Drive on for about 900m and turn left onto a gravel road to Magersfontein travel about 8km.
