The Namib Trail Marathon was born as an introduction run to the 5 day Namib Desert Challenge. It is the perfect opportunity for people who would like to experience first hand what the multi day challenge is about.
The 42km route will encompass Stage 1 of the Namib Desert Challenge on the 21st of July 2014. Participants will start alongside the multi day challenge competitors and will get to test themselves against the field and experience the awesomeness of stage 1, in preparation for the next edition.
The Namib Trail Marathon stage is set to become the next "must do" race for all trail enthusiasts.
There will be 2 aid stations on the course providing water, refreshments and medical support.
Competitors are required to carry their water using appropriate trail running equipment. (Bladders, bottle straps etc)
The aid stations will be placed at the 15km and the 30km marks.
The Course: 42km
The race begins with a slight and gradual incline across dry bushveld. The terrain is a mix of grassy plains, rocky hills and dry river beds.
Competitors will be treated to awesome views of the landscape upon reaching the summit of a narrow mountain pass.
Wildlife is regularly visible and competitors will be treated to sightings of springbok, oryx, zebras and ostrich.
Registration Packages & Options
All runners will receive a race tech shirt. Finishers will receive a unique medal and an option to enter the next edition of the 5 day stage race at a discounted rate.
