The Lions Karoo to Coast is a 100km offroad race from UNIONDALE to KNYSNA via the Prince Alfred's Pass and is not for the faint-hearted.
Date - Saturday 19th September 2015 in Uniondale from 13:00 – 21:00
For the convenience of riders NOT staying in Uniondale - Late registration - collection of entry packs (NO ENTRIES) 06:00 – 07:30 Sunday 20th September 2015.
Sunday 20th September 2015 at 07.30 - please note that the event started at 08.00 in 2014 and not will start half an hour earlier in 2015.
The cut off is at the Kom se Pad / Knysna turn off at 14:00 and the Knysna High School at 15:30. There will be seven start groups with approximately five minute intervals in between each group.
The event will be timed by Racetec and if necessary, transponders can be purchased at registration in Uniondale. No transponder, no result and no prizes.
ALLOCATION OF RACE NUMBER AND SEEDING
Seeding will be done by Racetec after the 10th September 2015 and riders will be sent their race numbers via email after this date. Seeding will be based on The Lions Karoo To Coast rider results in 2014 & 2015 and the PPA seeding index.
There will BE NO LATE entries whatsoever once all entries have closed. For the first time - this year the event will take 4000 entries.
There are nine points (including the finish point) on the 100km route. This year, for the first time, and in response to the request of riders – there will be more food at points as from the Buffelsnek, which is approximately half way through the event. Please note that it is not guaranteed that all riders will receive food at points as it depends on the consumption by riders passing before them. There will be sufficient water and Powerade at all points for the 4000 riders. It is highly recommended that you also carry your own preferred snacks and liquids on your person on the day.
WHAT TO CARRY
Riders are encouraged to take sufficient energy bars/food for your estimated time in the saddle. Please carry at least two full water bottles with your drink of choice and preferably a full “Camelbak” if you have one. Riders should be able to fix a puncture and may want to carry their cellphones. If you are allergic to any medication etc – please indicate this on your person when riding. There will be 8 waterpoints on the route.
