Spur River Rumble Adventure Day
4 Events to choose from -
- River Rumble: 40-45 minutes duration. Fun, action packed event for solos or teams
- Anything-that-floats regatta. Teams construct their own floats/rafts etc and square off on the estuary in front of the event hub at mid day. Huge fun!
- Beach Kids Dash: for the young ones age 5-10ish. A fun, circular mini adventure race at around 11ish.
- 50km or 100km Adventure race with the guys from WCAD - www.wcad.co.za
EVENT 1 - RIVER RUMBLE
Event Venue: Palmiet River, Kleinmond
Event Cost: R120 per person // R240.00 per 2 member team // R360 per 3 member team --- NOT A RELAY. All members do everything together.

NB! IF YOU ENTER FOR THE "ANYTHING-THAT-FLOATS" REGATTA, YOU GET A FREE ENTRY FOR RIVER RUMBLE!
Description:
First batch starts at 09h00 and each batch will consist of up to 15 teams of 2 members each or 30 competitors - whichever is applicable. Any category can race in any batch start. Teams and individuals can enter more than once, subject to paying for a new batch time, of course.
PRE ENTRIES close on 24 July. You can "late enter" on the day, subject to available batch times but you will pay R130.00pp if you enter on the day instead of R120.00pp for pre entries.
PRE ENTRY MEANS YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR ENTRY FORM ONLINE AND YOU'VE PAID BEFORE OR ON THE 24 JULY YOU CANNOT SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY FORM AND THEN EXPECT TO PAY PRE ENTRY FEE AFTER 24 AUGUST. IT WILL BE DEEMED "LATE ENTRY"
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS PAYABLE UNLESS THE EVENT IS CANCELLED BY QUANTUM ADVENTURES.
When you enter, please let us know at the bottom of the form where it says "Additional information" in which batch you want to start and include a 2nd choice option - we might not be able to fit you into a specific batch due to it being filled up already.
Junior Category = Age 14-16. We cannot accept any age younger than 14 unless accompanied by their Dad or Mum in the "Family category"

Activities for the RIVER RUMBLE will include:
- Tubing
- River walk/dash/run
- Croc paddle
- Croc/tube/rope bridge obstacle
- River mouth crossing with ropes and tubes
- River walk/dash/run - opposite bank
- River crossing below bridge
- Inflatable obstacle in the water
The course will probably take an average team about 40-45 minutes to complete.
* As we progress with the planning of this event, we might include some other physical and mental challenges along the way!
We can supply the PFDs/Life jackets but if you have your own, please use that rather. We might not have enough of the correct sizes for each person. Wearing these are compulsory.
What you need to bring:
Mountain bike helmet, running shoes, dry clothes and a sense of humour!
It's highly advisable that you wear at least a "shorty" wetsuit [you'll have to bring your own] - the water is chilly... BUT AWESOME!
EVENT 2 - ANYTHING THAT FLOATS REGATTA!
NB! IF YOU ENTER FOR THE "ANYTHING-THAT-FLOATS" REGATTA, YOU GET A FREE ENTRY FOR RIVER RUMBLE!
Time: 13h00-16h00. There will be a start group at 13h00, 14h00 and 15h00
We set the course - you get to race it in your team [6 people max per team].
What/How - At high tide, teams will launch their custom built rafts, floats and whatever else that don't sink... Teams will race each other on a 2km circuit in front of the event venue.
Rules:
No engines allowed
Must be a custom build craft from whatever you can gather
You can brand the raft to your liking as long as it is not vulgar and in the spirit of the event.
NO ALCOHOL allowed on the rafts
Anybody under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to enter the water
You are allowed to rig a sail
You must take this raft back with you and dispose of it in a responsible manner. Leaving it behind or dumping it next to the road is NOT AN OPTION!
ENTRY FEE PER RAFT - R500.00 . PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT THE NAME OF "ONE" PERSON ON THE ENTRY FORM. This will be the contact person. Please use the Team Name as your reference when making payment.
EVENT 3 - SPUR BEACH KIDS DASH!
Time: 11h00 and 12h00
What/where/how - We've created a short course Beach and Aqua dash of approx 1km. The course is suitable for the young ones age 6-10 and will include negotiating an inflatable obstacle, beach run at low tide, estuary ramble at low tide, cargo nets and a tube obstacle. Medals and Spur gift for all finishers!
Entry fee - R50 per child. Parents will need to sign an Indemnity. Entries on the day only - from 09h00-10h00
