Baviaanskloof Amazing Walk

  • The distance per day is walked in 6km stretches, with safari style rest breaks in the veldt, or an interesting cultural or historical stop along the way.

  • You meet the locals, eat their food and learn about their history.

  • Walking is done on gravel roads without a backpack – no hiking trails.

  • Accommodation is on guest farms, guest houses and in chalets

  • A support vehicle and team are there to assist you throughout the day.

The support group departs from George Airport. We suggest that you fly to George

Days Route
Day 0

The support team leaves from George Airport at 13:00. Arrive at Willowmore by 15:00 Briefing and  welcome  dinner

Accommodation: Poortjieskloof Private Nature reserve
Day 1

A Game Watching circle route in Poortjieskloof  Private Nature Reserve, while game watching and the Giraffes and Wildebeest are watching you! After breakfast we walk in the reserve and lookout for Zebra and Kudu. Walk into Willowmore for lunch at Sophie’s Choice after a visit to Pepi’s Bar.

Day 2

Walk from Nuwekloof into Baviaanskloof to Uitspan Guest Farm  - into the ‘Kloof‘, where you have to find your clues to know where your overnight accommodation is. Walk through spectacular rock formations and visit a local lady for tea in her garden.

Day 3

Walk from overnight spot past Duiwelskloof further into Baviaanskloof.

Visit Vero’s restaurant for ‘roosterkoek’ and coffee. Meet Veronica and her team. You sleep where the Cambell’s rest. Dinner on the stoep with Rune and Hestelle – the local farmer and his wife

Day 4

Walk after breakfast on back roads and across the last farms in the area to Cambell’s monument and lunch at Sewefontein, in a wild fig tree forest. Walk on board walks with a local guide into the forest to visit the fountains. Visit ‘Babes se winkel’ for clues to reach your overnight accommodation.

Day 5

Walk from the heart of the wilderness area back towards Geelhoutbos. Walk past Apieskraal to end the day at a kraal with a picnic lunch under the trees

Join an eco-tour to learn about the Spekboom and Leopard Project with Piet Kruger

Day 6 Leave for home after breakfast

Arrive George Airport  at 11:00

This walk, 15 - 20km per day, offers everyone that participate an unbelievable experience. The walk was designed for the social walker with ALL the Eco experiences that the area’s unique beauty has to offer.

Keys – clues, riddles or questions - will unlock the mysteries of the ‘Kloof’ and will show you the way to your destination at the end of each day. 

After registration you will receive the ‘SPORE’ Newsletters with checklists, recommendations on training, walking equipment, background information to Baviaanskloof and general information i.e. traveling arrangements
